Information and Forms for Active Therapeutic Riders

Who is an active therapeutic rider at Naples Therapeutic Riding Center?

This information is for individuals (parents and guardians of riders in many cases) who are currently attending therapeutic riding lessons at NTRC.

Here you will find the following information:

  • The Therapeutic Riding Schedule includes lesson times by class name and the pre-scheduled holidays when NTRC is closed for programs. Lessons are scheduled daily, except for Fridays and Sundays. Due to the heat and summer camps, the schedule for the summer months is limited (June through August). There are no therapeutic riding lessons in August and on certain holidays throughout the year.
  • Renewal paperwork – every rider must complete renewal paperwork annually. These forms can be picked up in the NTRC administrative offices.
  • Scholarship Application – Thanks to community support, NTRC is able to provide rider scholarships based on financial need. Scholarships are full or partial, providing assistance to cover the $50 lesson fee. An application for a scholarship can emailed to you or a printed copy may be picked up at NTRC’s administrative office. All Riders are subsidized by donations from the community. Some riders are also eligible for scholarships.

Active Rider Forms

Fees: $50.00 per riding lesson

All riders are billed prior to the start of an 8–week session.

Inclement Weather Policy and Communications: When the heat index is over 100 degrees, lessons will be canceled due to the effect the heat and humidity have on the horses, riders, and volunteers. When the wind chill is 45 degrees or lower, lessons will be canceled. If there is lightning or a strong threat of lightning, lessons will be canceled. Cancellations will be affirmed by the Program Director to Participants and Volunteers. Riders are not billed for canceled lessons.

The NTRC Facebook Page is the primary location to learn about canceled lessons. Additionally, volunteers and riders who are signed up for the canceled class will be notified by phone or e-mail. If you suspect the weather will impact your scheduled lesson, please visit NTRC’s Facebook Page, and check your e-mail and/or phone for notifications.

Attendance: If for some reason you are unable to attend lessons, please contact NTRC by phone at (239) 596-2988 or e-mail info@ntrc.org. We schedule volunteers and staff based on projected class attendance.

Session Progress Report and Annual PEPP Evaluation: At the end of each 8-week session, riders receive a progress report prepared by their instructor. In the spring of each year, NTRC instructors conduct an annual evaluation. These evaluations are very important to NTRC as they help guide the therapeutic riding instruction, the skills building of the riders, as well as outcome measurements that assist with fundraising for the programs.

The Therapeutic Riding program is the foundation of NTRC. This is where it all started for the organization in 1997. This program exists thanks to the generosity of private foundations and individual donors. Without them, the organization could not serve so many people who benefit from therapeutic riding the most.
