Hoof & Hike Poker Run

Hoof & Hike is NTRC’s annual hiking and horseback poker run, held each January and designed for participants to enjoy the trails on foot or horseback while supporting the horses who make our mission possible.

Proceeds from Hoof & Hike support the ongoing care of NTRC’s herd, including retirement care, respite throughout the year, and extraordinary veterinary expenses when additional medical needs arise.

Many of our retired horses enjoy their next chapter at Camp Rusk, a 500 acre sanctuary where they can live in a natural herd setting with open pasture and dedicated care.

Thank you for helping us provide thoughtful, lifelong care for the horses who have given so much to NTRC and the people we serve.

$50.00 Entry Fee

Fee Includes Poker Run Entry Fee, Park Entry Fee, Lunch & a T-Shirt

Lunch  available from 11:30 am to 2:45 pm

Chance Drawings (Tickets $5.00 with winners drawn at 1:00 pm)

On your own overnight camping on Saturday is available —Not sponsored by NTRC, Stalls are on a first come first serve basis.

You may come anytime during the event hours, but all trails must be completed by 3:00 p.m.

Trail Info

Hiking Trail = approximately 3.1 miles

Short Horseback Trail = approximately 3.5 miles

Long Horseback Trail = approximately 8 miles

Poker Run Prizes

1st Place = $150.00

2nd Place = $100.00

3rd Place = $50.00

 

Riders must present current negative Coggins at the event for each horse on site.  A copy will be retained by NTRC administration.
